I get excited for the Olympics, I really do. It is so fun every four years to watch as the world comes together for two weeks and and sees displays of human strength and skill that are beyond imagination. The Olympics; isn’t it fun to try to guess who will carry the torch into the stadium at the opening ceremony? If you didn’t shed a tear the year Muhammad Ali carried the torch in, you can call yourself heartless. The world has changed over the years, disputes have been settled while others have ignited, but for 2 weeks we, the world, are mesmerized by athletes from every country. You cheer for your favorites, and then again, for those who you have never seen before and don’t even speak their language. It is symbolic of the culture we should embrace and mimic; cheering for the underdog, looking past cultural differences, smiling when you know they don’t understand you. What do you plan to take away from this year’s Olympics? Perhaps, one can only hope, that it will be the vision of people just being together, living their dreams, inspiring the world, and building friendships that will cross over the borders.
