Beat the Heat!

We are definitely in the dog days of summer right now. I believe today was the 14th day in a row in the 90’s, and the 5 day forecast? 97, 98, 98, 97, 90. Can’t wait for that cold front when we drop to 90! It does make exercising during this heat spell a little tough, especially if you’re not much of a morning person, like myself.  Here’s what I try to do, when I actually get myself up. I will take the dog for a nice brisk walk at 6:30 in the morning. It is really hard for me to get up and just start running; I need to eat and digest, get my contacts in and focus my eyes, it just takes me a while to get going. I have learned though, that being out in the early morning is the most beautiful time of day. It is so peaceful and pleasant, and the dog is so happy to be out, he doesn’t care if we’re running or walking. So if you’re like me, and vigorous exercising at 6:00am is just too much to ask of your body and brains, go for a walk. It is the best way to start your day and beat the heat!
